Meet Kelvin.
The face of your AI crew.
Kelvin is the RAPR AI penguin. While Claude, Gemini, Codex and your other AIs work, Kelvin shows you what they're really doing: listening, thinking, running a tool, waiting for your OK, finished, or stuck. In the app, on your desktop, in the tray and on Telegram.
Waiting for a message. Breathes, blinks, watches your pointer.
How Kelvin behaves
Honest by design
Kelvin's face only changes on real events from your AIs. It never looks happy about a task that failed.
Never in your way
No pop-ups and no chatter. Kelvin speaks up only when an AI needs your approval, and goes still if you prefer.
Yours to control
Every Kelvin feature has a switch: animated, still or hidden, desktop Kelvin, stickers, keep-awake and check-ins.
Everywhere RAPR runs
One character, the same moods, wherever you look.
Drag Kelvin anywhere (or focus it and use the arrow keys).
09:41On your desktop
A small Kelvin that floats above your windows, like a desktop pet. It animates with what your AIs are doing and remembers where you left it.
- Drag Kelvin anywhere, on any monitor
- Click when Kelvin holds up the “may I?” card to jump straight to the approval
- Double-click to open RAPR AI, right-click to hide; bring Kelvin back from the tray menu
- Dozes off after 10 quiet minutes and wakes up when work starts

ErrorIn the system tray
The RAPR logo gets a Kelvin badge whose colour tells you the state at a glance, even with every window closed.
- Hover for a status line like “Kelvin: 2 sessions working”
- A Windows notification when an AI needs your approval
- Keep PC awake, Kelvin on desktop and Start on Login in the tray menu
In the app
- Beside the RAPR logo, always showing the session you’re looking at
- Replaces the “thinking” dots and the approval banner’s warning icon
- Greets you when a chat is empty
- Animated, still or hidden in Settings
The Kelvin crew
RAPR runs AIs truly in parallel. When it does, Kelvin brings friends.
- One Kelvin per busy session, each in its AI’s beanie colour
- For /pipeline: a lead Kelvin plus one per step, grouped into parallel waves
- “Call the Kelvin crew” turns a big prompt into a parallel pipeline
online
Example reply
On Telegram
- /kelvin: uptime, what’s running, approvals waiting, next schedule
- Optional daily check-in, so silence means something
- Opt-in stickers for approvals, failures and long tasks finishing
- Give your bot Kelvin’s face with @BotFather
Kelvin keeps working while you're away
RAPR runs on your own PC, so “always on” means the PC stays on. Kelvin takes care of that, and tells you when it can't.
Keeps your PC awake
While a session works, a pipeline runs or an approval waits, Windows won’t sleep. Choose Always for round-the-clock schedules, or Off. The screen can still turn off.
Starts with Windows
The installer can start RAPR when Windows starts (ticked by default), so Kelvin, schedules and Telegram are back after every restart.
Still running reminders
Close the window and Kelvin reminds you RAPR keeps working in the tray. Shown a few times, then it gets out of your way.
Check in from anywhere
Send /kelvin on Telegram, or get a daily check-in. No reply means the PC is off or asleep.

RAPR AI is running at http://localhost:8000Even in the console
Start RAPR from a terminal and Kelvin says hello with the address it's running on, in plain ASCII so any console can show it.
Eight moods, each one means something
Idle
Waiting for a message. Breathes, blinks, watches your pointer.
Listening
A new message arrived. Wings lift and the head tilts toward you.
Thinking
Waiting on the AI model. Looks up and away while the dots bob.
Working
Running a tool or workflow step. Focused eyes, steady bob.
Needs approval
Wants to do something risky, so it asks you first.
Done
Task finished. Happy eyes, a hop and a few sparkles.
Error
Something failed. Kelvin says so plainly and never pretends it worked.
Sleeping
Nothing scheduled. Slow breathing until the next job.
How Kelvin and RAPR compare
Questions about Kelvin
Who is Kelvin?
Kelvin is the RAPR AI penguin. Kelvin's face always shows what your AIs are really doing: listening, thinking, working, waiting for your approval, done, or stuck on an error. It's a status light with a personality.
Is Kelvin a separate AI?
No. Kelvin doesn't answer for your AIs or make decisions. Claude, Gemini, Codex, Ollama and your other tools do the work; Kelvin shows you what they're doing and when they need you.
Where does Kelvin appear?
Beside the RAPR logo in the app, in an empty chat, in the thinking indicator and approval banner, as a crew when AIs work in parallel, as a draggable companion on your Windows desktop, as a badge on the tray icon, and on Telegram if you turn stickers on.
Can I move Kelvin around my desktop?
Yes. Desktop Kelvin is a small always-on-top window you can drag anywhere, on any monitor. RAPR remembers where you left it. Double-click to open RAPR, right-click to hide it, and bring it back from the tray menu.
How do I know RAPR is still running?
Kelvin's badge stays on the tray icon while RAPR runs, and closing the window shows a reminder that RAPR keeps working. On Telegram, send /kelvin for a status report or turn on the daily check-in. No reply means RAPR is off or the PC is asleep.
Will my PC go to sleep while an AI is working?
Not by default. 'Keep PC awake' stops Windows sleeping while a session is busy, a pipeline runs or an approval waits. Set it to Always for round-the-clock schedules, or Off. The screen can still turn off, and closing a laptop lid follows your Windows lid setting.
Can I turn Kelvin off?
Yes. In Settings > Personalization you can set Kelvin to Animated, Still or Hidden, hide desktop Kelvin, and turn Telegram stickers and the daily check-in on or off. Hidden brings back the original RAPR look.
Is Kelvin in the Windows download?
Not yet. Kelvin is new and isn't in the compiled installer. You can run RAPR AI from the open-source code on GitHub to meet Kelvin today; Kelvin comes to the installer in the next release.
